HAVING ADOPTED amendments to the International Convention
for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), 1974,
concerning the safety of ro-ro passenger ships,
BEING OF THE OPINION that there is need for an evacuation
time to be specified within which the evacuation of a ro-ro passenger
ship should be completed,
NOTING that it has been proposed that the maximum evacuation
time of a ro-ro passenger ship should be 60 minutes,
URGES the Maritime Safety Committee of the International
Maritime Organization to consider the maximum evacuation time for
ro-ro passenger ships and develop requirements or recommendations,
as appropriate.
