Letter from the Head, National Naval Prefecture of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, addressed to the Director, Marine Environment Division, dated 22 December 2009.

Dear Sir,

I wish to inform you that the Maritime Authority of Uruguay (National Naval Prefecture), in accordance with regulation 20.7 of MARPOL Annex I, has authorized oil tankers flying the flag of Uruguay to continue operating from the date specified in paragraph 4 of the above-mentioned regulation until 31 December 2013 or until the date when a ship reaches the specified number of years after the date of its delivery, whichever is the earlier.

This communication is sent in conformity with the provisions of regulation 20.8.1 of MARPOL Annex I, for circulation to the Parties to the Convention.
