Section 4 Alternative techniques

4.1 Structural vibrations may be assessed by dynamic strain measurements in conjunction with other relevant data to define the fatigue environment.

Modal and finite element analyses may give a better understanding of the behaviour of structures. The assumptions implicit in such analyses should be validated by measurements.
