25.2.2.1 The design of towing gear should minimise
the overturning moment due to the lead of the towline.
25.2.2.2 The towing hook or towline should have
a positive means of release which can be relied upon to function correctly
under all operating conditions.
25.2.2.3 The towing hook (or equivalent fitting)
and the supporting structure should be strong enough to withstand
loads imposed during towing operations.
25.2.2.4 The release mechanism should be controlled
from all conning positions and at the hook itself. The local control
at the hook should be of the direct mechanical type capable of independent
operation.
25.2.2.5 Towing arrangements should be appropriate
to the task in hand and maintained to ensure that they are in an efficient
working condition.
