Circular

The Maritime Safety Committee, at its eighty-eighth session (24 November to 3 December 2010), adopted, by resolution MSC.310(88), amendments to the International Convention for Safe Containers, 1972 (CSC 1972), to include new specifications regarding Safety Approval Plates, describing the validity of, and elements to be included in, approved examination programmes.

In accordance with CSC 1972, regulation 2.7 of annex I, Administrations shall make information on approved Continuous Examination Programmes (ACEP) publicly available. This implies that Administrations are required not only to make their ACEP information publicly available, but also to disseminate to the public where that information may be found. In this context, Administrations are urged to inform the Organization of how the information can be obtained.

The Maritime Safety Committee, at its ninety-sixth session (11 to 20 May 2016), having considered the proposal by the Sub-Committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers, at its second session, approved the List of locations of publicly available ACEP information, as set out in the annex.

Contracting Parties to the International Convention for Safe Containers, 1972, are requested to advise the Secretariat of the location of their ACEP public information, which will be included in future CSC.1 circulars, and to update this information promptly of any change to the location where the information is publicly available.

Member States are invited to bring the annexed information to the attention of all parties concerned.
