Regulation 7-3.3
1 Concerning the use of other figures for permeability "if substantiated by
calculations", such permeabilities should reflect the general conditions of the ship
throughout its service life rather than specific loading conditions.
2 This paragraph allows for the recalculation of permeabilities. This should only be
considered in cases where it is evident that there is a major discrepancy between the
values shown in the regulation and the real values. It is not designed for improving the
attained value of a deficient ship of regular type by the modification of chosen spaces
in the ship that are known to provide significantly onerous results. All proposals
should be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Administration and should be
justified with adequate calculations and arguments.
