Circular

  1 The Maritime Safety Committee, at its eighty-ninth session (11 to 20 May 2011), with a view to providing the process for the development, verification, implementation and monitoring of goal-based standards (GBS) to support regulatory development within IMO, approved the Generic guidelines for developing IMO goal-based standards, as provided in the annex to MSC.1/Circ.1394.

2 The Maritime Safety Committee, at its ninety-fifth session (3 to 12 June 2015), revised the guidelines, as set out in the annex.

3 Member Governments are invited to use the annexed guidelines and to bring them to the attention of all parties concerned.

4 The present circular supersedes MSC.1/Circ.1394.
