Circular

  1 A communication has been received from the Administration of the United States concerning the implementation from January 1, 2010, of the effluent standards of resolution MEPC.159(55) to sewage treatment plants on U.S. flagged ships.

  2 Since the United States is not Party to MARPOL Annex IV, the U.S. Coast Guard and authorized classification societies will issue a Statement of Voluntary Compliance (SOVC) to U.S. flagged ships that are in compliance with Annex IV of the Convention.

  3 The above-mentioned communication, attached at annex, is circulated to Parties of the Convention and Member States for their information and appropriate action, if any.
