1 The Maritime Safety Committee, at its ninety-third
session (14 to 23 May 2014), with a view to providing specific guidance
on the application of the relevant requirements of the Performance
standard for alternative means of corrosion protection for cargo oil
tanks of crude oil tankers, as adopted by resolution MSC.289(87), approved the Unified interpretation
on the application of the Performance standard for alternative
means of corrosion protection for cargo oil tanks of crude oil tankers (resolution MSC.289(87), prepared by the Sub-Committee
on Ship Design and Construction, at its first session (20 to 24 January
2014).
2 Member Governments are invited to use the annexed
Unified Interpretations as guidance when applying relevant provisions
of the Performance standard for alternative means of corrosion
protection for cargo oil tanks of crude oil tankers and to
bring them to the attention of all parties concerned.
