6.1 General

  6.1.1 After installation of a pre-certificated engine on board a ship, every marine diesel engine shall have an onboard verification survey conducted as specified in 2.1.1.2 to 2.1.1.4 to verify that the engine continues to comply with the applicable NOx emission limit contained in regulation 13. Such verification of compliance shall be determined by using one of the following methods:

  • .1 engine parameter check method in accordance with 6.2 to verify that an engine’s component, settings and operating values have not deviated from the specifications in the engine’s technical file;

  • .2 simplified measurement method in accordance with 6.3; or

  • .3 direct measurement and monitoring method in accordance with 6.4.
