2 Relevant cargoes:

 The cargoes accepted for carriage according to this notification of equivalence are oil products (regulated under Annex I to MARPOL 73/78) which have a vapour pressure in excess of 5 x 103 Pa at 20°C and which do not contain heavy components likely to remain in the cargo tanks after a ventilation procedure. Substances identified by Annex II to MARPOL 73/78 as noxious liquid substances are not covered by these equivalency considerations, as vessels carrying such substances will be certified under the requirements of Annex II.

 Typical products, in addition to light naphtha, which may be suitable for venting are, e.g.:

  • Jetfuel JP4 also called Turbofuel B or White Cut Kerosene,
  • MOGAS (motor oil gasoline, ordinary gasoline),
  • Natural gasoline,
  • Condensate.
  • Pentane + (oil product), and
  • Casinghead gasoline.
