The Conference,

 RECALLING its decision that the Protocol of 1988 relating to the International Convention on Load Lines, 1966 (the 1988 Protocol), shall be established in a single original in the Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish languages, each text being equally authentic,

 TAKING NOTE of the provisions of paragraph 2 of article I of the 1988 Protocol,

 TAKING NOTE ALSO of the fact that the authentic texts of the International Convention on Load Lines, 1966, were established only in the English and French languages and that official translations were made into the Russian and Spanish languages,

 CONSIDERING it desirable to harmonize the terminology and phraseology in the Spanish language of the original 1966 Convention so that its text is in conformity with the terminology and phraseology adopted for the authentic Spanish text of the 1988 Protocol,

  1. REQUESTS the Secretary-General to prepare a draft of a revised official translation in Spanish of the International Convention on Load Lines, 1966, and, in accordance with the usual procedures, to submit the draft to the Governments concerned for consideration;

  2. DECIDES that the text in Spanish resulting from consideration by the Governments concerned shall replace the existing official translation in Spanish of the International Convention on Load Lines, 1966.
