2022 Guidance on methodologies that may be used for enumerating viable organisms for type approval of ballast water management systems
1 The Marine Environment Protection Committee, at its seventy-first session (3 to 7 July 2017), approved Guidance on methodologies that may be used for enumerating viable organisms for type approval of ballast water management systems, to be used for verifying compliance with regulation D-2 of the BWM Convention, prepared by the Sub-Committee on Pollution Prevention and Response at its fourth session (16 to 20 January 2017).
2 MEPC 78 (6 to 10 June 2022) approved a revision of the circular to update the method reference for the MPN + Motility method, as agreed by PPR 9 (4 to 8 April 2022), as set out in the annex.
3 Member Governments are invited to bring the annexed Guidance to the attention of all parties concerned.
4 This circular revokes BWM.2/Circ.61.
