Scope

The goal of this chapter is to provide for the design and construction of ships having a reduced environmental impact during operation compared to ships designed and constructed solely in accordance with the relevant minimum statutory requirements of the MARPOL convention and as such the requirements in this chapter necessarily exceed the relevant minimum statutory requirements of the MARPOL convention.
