10.1 Training for ships' masters and crews, in-water
cleaning or maintenance facility operators and those surveying or
inspecting ships as appropriate should include instructions on the
application of biofouling management and treatment procedures, based
upon the information contained in these Guidelines. Instruction should
also be provided on the following:

.1 maintenance of appropriate records and logs;
-
.2 impacts of invasive aquatic species from ships'
biofouling;
-
.3 benefits to the ship of managing biofouling
and the threats posed by not applying management procedures;
-
.4 biofouling management measures and associated
safety procedures; and
-
.5 relevant health and safety issues.
10.2 States and industry organizations should
ensure that relevant marine training organizations are aware of these
Guidelines and include this in their syllabuses as appropriate.
