Section 1 Audible alarm levels

1.1 Sound pressure levels due to audible alarms at the head position in bunks and at 1 m from the source should be at least 75 dBA and at least 10 dBA above ambient noise levels when the ship is sailing normally in moderate weather conditions. The sound pressure level due to an alarm should not exceed 120 dBA.

1.2 Audible alarms (with the exception of bells) should have a frequency in the range 200-2500 Hz. The measured sound pressure level should be achieved in the third-octave band containing the fundamental frequency.
