Statutory Documents - IMO Publications and Documents - Circulars - Maritime Safety Committee - MSC/Circular.681 – Guidelines for Passenger Safety Instruction on Ro-Ro Passenger Ships – (Adopted on 31 May 1995) - The Maritime Safety Committee

The Maritime Safety Committee

1 The Maritime Safety Committee, at its sixty-fifth session (9 to 17 May 1995), recognizing that the level of information required to be given to passengers on safety issues, in general and during emergencies, in particular, may vary to some extent between countries and that it is, therefore, neither possible nor advisable to make detailed mandatory requirements for the information to be given to passengers, adopted the Guidelines for passenger safety instructions on ro-ro passenger ships set out at annex.

2 These Guidelines are intended to assist operators of ro-ro passenger ships in preparing and presenting emergency instructions to passengers.

3 Member Governments are invited to bring the Guidelines to the attention of ro-ro passenger shipowners and operators, shipmasters and crews and all others concerned, urging them to implement the Guidelines as appropriate.

4 The present Guidelines supersede, in respect of ro-ro passenger ships, the Guidelines disseminated under cover of MSC/Circular.617/Rev.1.
