4.1.1 The
Committee, when authorised, will act on behalf of Governments and,
if requested, LR will certify compliance in respect of National and
International statutory safety and other requirements for passenger
and cargo ships.
4.1.2 In satisfying
the Load Line Conventions, the general structural strength of the
ship is required to be sufficient for the draught corresponding to
the freeboards to be assigned. Ships built and maintained in accordance
with LR's Rules and Regulations possess adequate strength to satisfy
the Load Line Conventions. However, some National Authorities may,
in addition, require to be supplied with calculations of bending moments
and shear forces for certain conditions of loading.
