Section 2 Deferred repairs

2.1 General

2.1.1 When it is considered that, for whatever reason, any part of the hull structure should be repaired or renewed, the Owner/Naval Authority should be advised without delay.

2.1.2 If it is found impracticable to deal with any such item before the ship sails, and the Surveyor is fully satisfied that there is a sound technical justification for postponement, in conjunction with the Owner and Naval Authority, the maximum period for which permanent repairs may be deferred without impairing the safety of the ship must be agreed. Deferment of permanent repairs may require the completion of immediate temporary repairs to the satisfaction of the Surveyor.

2.1.3 Damages or defects, the repair of which may be deferred, fall into two categories, Conditions of Class and Memoranda Entries, see Ch 15, 3 Conditions of Class and Ch 15, 4 Memoranda entries.
