Section 2 Continuous survey of hull

2.1 General

2.1.1 For all ships the Special Survey may be carried out on a continuous basis. All requests to carry out such surveys must be referred to the LR Naval liaison office with a proposal from the Owner for the programme of survey.

2.1.2 Examination and testing of hull items is to be arranged such that equal portions of the complete Special Survey are carried out each year and each item is surveyed at intervals of not more than the agreed Special Survey cycle.

2.1.3 The survey cycle of the individual survey item will be agreed, in the first instance between the Owner/Naval Authority, LR Naval liaison office and Classification Committee, from the Master List of Surveyable Items. Thereafter, details of the survey cycle are indicated in either the survey status or as indicated in the quarterly listing issued to the Owner/Naval Authority.

2.1.4 Where a Continuous Survey is approved, the first cycle should not be commenced until the previous Special Survey has been completed.
