8.4.1 Where
design permits, casings are to be tested to a hydraulic pressure equal
to 1,5 times the highest pressure in the casing during normal operation,
or 1,5 times the pressure during starting, whichever is the higher.
For test purposes, if necessary, the casings may be subdivided with
temporary diaphragms for distribution of test pressure. Where the
operating temperature exceeds 300°C, the test pressure is to be
suitably corrected.
8.4.2 Where
hydraulic testing is impracticable, nondestructive tests by ultrasonic
or radiographic methods are to be carried out on the entire circumference
of all casing parts with satisfactory results. Where ultrasonic tests
have been carried out, the manufacturer is to provide documentary
evidence that ultrasonic examination has been carried out by an approved
operator and that there were no indications of defects which could
be expected to have a prejudicial effect on the operational performance
of the gas turbine.
8.4.3 The
shell and tube arrangement of intercoolers and heat exchangers are
to be tested to 1,5 times their maximum working pressure.
