3.1.1 Rotors
and discs are to be of forged steel. For carbon and carbon-manganese
steel forgings, the specified minimum tensile strength is to be selected
within the limits of 400 and 600 N/mm2. For alloy steel
rotor forgings, the specified minimum tensile strength is to be selected
within the limits of 500 and 800 N/mm2. For discs and other
alloy steel forgings, the specified minimum tensile strength is to
be selected within the limits of 500 and 1000 N/mm2. See

of Materials (hereinafter referred to as the Rules for Materials).
3.1.2 For alloy
steels, specifications giving the proposed chemical composition and
heat treatment are to be submitted for approval.
3.1.3 When it
is proposed to use a material of higher tensile strength, full details
are to be submitted for approval.
3.1.4 Components
of non-ferrous construction should be submitted for consideration,
together with full details of materials to be used and method of fabrication.
