USE OF ELECTRONIC STAMPS
MAIN PRINCIPLES
General
This TNC presents the stamps to be used and their correct implementation, in scope of Plan Approval activity (Review activity), as of October 2017.
Each stamp is referenced by a 2-digits number («0x», from 01 to 07), to allow differentiation with former stamps references. In addition, the stamps reflecting a document Review that results in comments issuance, are completed by the letter «b».
Former use of stamps, as a support for documentary / technical comment is no longer adequate, and is substituted with greater benefits by comments process in VPM (VeriSTAR Project Management web application).
The stamps are to be considered as integral part of the Recognised Organisation (RO) deliverables after documents Review is completed.
Scope of work
The stamps are linked to contractual scope of work. Three, and only three, contractual scopes of review work are considered:
Documents review in scope of Classification:
The review is performed against Recognised Organisation (RO) Rules or Recognised Organisation (RO) Rules Notes.
The review is performed in contractual scope of a Request for Classification, or within the scope of the continuous Classification contract in case of ships in service.
Documents review in scope of Statutory:
The review aims at checking compliance with International / National Regulations, such as IMO documents, National Administration documents, etc….
The review is performed within the scope of specific contractual request.
Documents review in scope of Certification:
The review is performed against Recognised Organisation (RO) referential or other Standards, such as ISO standards, EN standards, MED standards, etc…..
The review is performed within the scope of a 3rd Party Certification process.
Each stamp could possibly be linked to one, two or three contractual scopes of review, according to Tables shown in §2.5.

Global stamps
The global stamp is a single stamp summarizing, at high level, the review performed in the concerned scope of review. It provides review information additional to VPM, mostly used when Recognised Organisation (RO) comments are not shown on stamped reviewed documents, but listed in a separate document.
There is one global stamp per scope of review.
When applied, stamp 06 is always shown on the concerned drawing (either alone or in addition to the global stamp).
There will be no global stamp mixing scopes of review (i.e. if a drawing is reviewed for 2 scopes of review, this drawing has to bare 2 global stamps).
