Section 3 Assessment

3.1 The assessment levels are shown in Figure 5.4.1 Local structural vibration and apply to unidirectional narrowband measurements taken at the position of maximum vibration amplitude such as at the centre of panels or tank sides.

It is recommended that the overall vibration amplitudes (peak) for vibrations in the frequency range 5 to 100 Hz are less than each of the following values:

  • displacement ± 0.25 mm peak
  • velocity ± 30 mm/s peak
  • acceleration ± 20 m/s2 peak.
