2.2.1 In cases where
Full-term Certificates of Class cannot be issued, the Surveyors are
to issue Interim Certificates on Form 1124. The certificate should,
as far as possible, use the wording shown in Figure 2.2.1 Example Interim Certificate (Hull). This wording has been carefully chosen and considerable
care should be exercised if it is found necessary to depart from it.
The certificate should be dated with the date of completion of the
vessel in question.
2.2.2 Where outstanding
items for completion of classification remain at the delivery stage,
details of these items, together with the Prime Contractor’s
proposals for their completion and the Surveyor’s recommendations
in this respect, are to be forwarded for consideration.
[The imposition of Conditions of Class at this stage will
only be accepted under exceptional circumstances and it is therefore
important that any possible problems are identified at an early stage
of construction and the necessary action taken to avoid delay to the
completion.]
2.2.3 It is to be
clearly understood that Interim Certificates issued by the Surveyors
are subject to confirmation after consideration of the Surveyor’s
reports.
2.2.4 Surveyors are
to forward to Headquarters, at handover to the Owner, a copy of the
Interim Certificate issued by them. They are also to report the dates
of issue and expiry of all other certificates whether these have been
issued by LR or not.
