Section 4 Integration for EER notation

4.1 General

4.1.1 The EER notation will be assigned to ships which demonstrate compliance with all the requirements for FIRE, ESC and LSAE notations.

4.1.2 In addition to the requirements of Vol 3, Pt 2, Ch 1, 4.1 General 4.1.1 the systems and their arrangements are to be integrated in such a manner so as to support safe and effective task performance. The systems are to be integrated in accordance with the requirements of Vol 3, Pt 2, Ch 1, 4.2 System integration.

4.2 System integration

4.2.1 System integration is to be managed by a single designated party, and is to be carried out in accordance with a defined procedure, agreed between the designer and the Owner.

4.2.2 The procedure is to identify the roles, responsibilities and requirements of all parties involved.

4.2.3 Safety systems are to be designed, as far as is practicable, so that their integration with other systems will not degrade the performance of any other system.

4.2.4 Where the integration involves control and safety functions for Mobility or Ship Type systems, a robust system Risk Assessment in accordance with Vol 2, Pt 1, Ch 3, 18 Risk Assessment (RA) is to be used. The Risk Assessment is to demonstrate that the integrated system will not render the control and safety functions of Mobility or Ship Type systems inoperable as a result of single item failure or cause failure of Mobility or Ship Type systems.
