Section 10 Austenitic and duplex stainless steels

10.1 Pipe thickness

10.1.1 The minimum thickness of austenitic stainless steel pipes is to be determined from the formula given in Pt 5, Ch 12, 2.2 Wrought steel pipes and bends 2.2.1 and either Pt 5, Ch 12, 2.2 Wrought steel pipes and bends 2.2.3 or Pt 5, Ch 12, 2.2 Wrought steel pipes and bends 2.2.4. Values of 1,0 per cent proof stress and tensile strength of the material for use in the formula in Pt 5, Ch 12, 2.2 Wrought steel pipes and bends 2.2.1 may be obtained from Table 6.5.2 Mechanical properties for acceptance purposes in Ch 6 Steel Pipes and Tubes of the Rules for Materials.

10.1.2 In no case is the thickness of austenitic stainless steel pipes to be less than that shown in Table 12.10.1 Minimum thickness for austenitic and duplex stainless steel pipes.
