Organisation and Responsibilities in FLEET MANAGEMENT activities
FLEET MANAGEMENT (FM)
FM organisation
Fleet Management activities cover Classification and Statutory Certification, Systems Certification, Training, Supervision and Functional support for Units in Service.
The organisation of FM and its role in the Fleet Management activity are shown in the following flowchart.
The Operational Structure entities (Marine Manager, MOC’s, operational units, CD’s, RSC’s, etc.) follow a matrix organisation:
they are hierarchically linked to the Operational Structure management (Zone or Regional manager) for the operational or commercial matters,
they are functionally linked with FM concerning the quality of their services and for the support to achieve their goals.
The Functional Management of FM to the Operational Structure is to:

Set policy on casualties, damage and repair activities
Draft technical and safety instructions
Provide operational support to the M&O Network with respect to new technologies for ships in service inspections
Each vessel of the Recognised Organisation (RO) Fleet is connected to a given CD and/or CS unit, which then connects the ship to a given MOC and MO. See for zones of responsibilities.
